MISSION STATEMENT

To empower the youth of Middle Georgia with accessible coding education through hands-on learning, mentorship, and community-driven initiatives, fostering a passion for technology and equipping them with the skills to make a positive difference in their communities and beyond.

OUR STRUCTURE

NextGen Coders offers a structured and engaging program designed to nurture students' confidence and skills as future coders. Our program features two core classes that meet every Saturday over the course of 12 weeks.

Beginner Build with Scratch Class

This class is perfect a perfect first step in the world of coding for students in grades 4-6. Students will explore core concepts such as variables, functions, and loops while also being able to develop a game using this visual programming language created by MIT.

Intermediate Computer Science Principles Class

This class is perfect for students in grades 6-8, providing a solid foundation in coding fundamentals using JavaScript-based block coding through Code.org. Students will explore core concepts such as variables, functions, loops, traversals, and parameters.

Advanced Python Class

Tailored for students grades 9-12 or those with prior coding experience, this class takes coding skills to the next level. Students learn Python programming concepts, including variables, functions, conditionals, loops, exceptions, and libraries. Projects from Harvard's online Python course and tools like GitHub are integrated to provide a hands-

on learning experience.

All classes emphasize practical projects and collaborative team-building activities to foster problem-solving skills and enhance students’ ability to work in a group setting. By the end of the program, students will have gained the confidence and expertise to tackle complex coding challenges and apply their skills in real-world scenarios.
